Learn More About the Honeycomb Learning Lab

ECCS is pleased to announce the addition of the Honeycomb Learning Lab, a place for supplementary, individualized educational support for students with mild to moderate learning differences. This program for students in kindergarten through 8th grade was created by our new Academic Support and Reading Interventionist, Mrs. Courtney Sepulvado, M.A., M.A.T.

Mrs. Sepulvado says she is passionate about meeting students where they are and seeing them as unique individuals. “Honeycomb Learning Lab is based on Proverbs 16:24: ‘Kind words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones,’” she adds. “We will strive to empower students to recognize their God-given purpose to help them reach their full potential while also encouraging parents in their child’s long-term success.”

Mrs. Sepulvado says she will utilize a lab-style model for students with mild to moderate special needs who have learning differences documented by a medical professional. This method will involve combining multi-sensory strategies with supplementary aids, such as decluttering visual stimuli, using graphic organizers, using tactile manipulatives for phonics and math, and movement exercises to engage the left-right brain connection.

She will also accommodate students by reading tests aloud, receiving oral responses, and providing extended time for tests and quiet zone testing. She says she has seen these strategies make a huge difference for students who need a more individualized approach to learning.

According to ECCS Head of School, Mr. David Long, a program like this has been very needed and prayed over. “This program is at the heart of who we are as a school. We have the passion, and we have the desire, and it’s going to help a lot of families.”
