While the school received a great honor, two ECCS teachers were also recognized

We are excited to announce that Evangel Classical Christian School (ECCS) has once again won Shelby Living's "Best of the Best" award in the private school category for 2026.

This is the second year in a row for ECCS to receive this honor, and Head of School, David Long, says it  speaks to our commitment of consistently delivering a safe, familial, and Christian environment that parents and students value in the Shelby County area.

“We at ECCS are humbled and grateful for this recognition. We seek to put Christ at the center of everything we do at ECCS,” says Mr. Long. “It’s incredibly gratifying when our efforts are affirmed, but as our motto states – Soli Deo Gloria – Glory to God Alone!”

In addition to winning “Best Private School,” two ECCS teachers were also recognized based on the votes of the community. Art teacher, Julia Hankins, received the honor of “Best Local Artist,” and science teacher, Kyra Woodman, was first runner up in the “Best Teacher” category.

Our goal is to partner with parents to raise ambassadors for Christ through hard work and instruction rooted in the truth of Scripture, Mr. Long adds. Regardless of the path our students choose after graduation, we want them to have established the "non-negotiables" that will carry them through the next phase of life.

“Most of our graduates go on to college and do exceedingly well, but more importantly, our prayer is that they leave here with a love of learning and a firm foundation from which to build a life that is glorifying to God.”

Thank you to all those who voted for ECCS, our amazing teachers who give their best each day, and to our wonderful students and their families!
