Evangel Classical Christian School (ECCS) will soon have a new name. While there are several reasons for this change, the main one is to distinguish ourselves in the community.

Our new name will be King’s Hill School at Evangel Church, known colloquially as “King’s Hill.” This name has been carefully considered and prayed over, and each element of the name and new logo have meaning and significance. We will still be both classical and Christian. We are the same school with a new name and a guiding Bible verse of Matthew 5:14: “A city on a hill cannot be hidden.” We want the light from King’s Hill to shine brightly in the community we serve.

Here’s more about the elements in our new name and logo:

• The “King” in King’s Hill is Jesus. He is the center of everything we do at our school. And really, it’s not our school. It’s His school.
• In classical Christian education, there are many kings, and we place a lot of emphasis on the medieval period in our curriculum.
• From our own American history, one of the most prominent battle cries during the American Revolution was, “No King but King Jesus!” 
• There is historical significance of hills being sites of great kingdoms or cities, such as Rome, Athens, and Jerusalem. They were built on hills because they are easy to defend and from which to command.
• Hills also hold spiritual significance, often the sites of great sermons, discussions, revelations, and prayers. The Sermon on the Mount, Mount Sinai, Mount of Olives, Mars Hill are examples, among others. From these places came great messages that would influence generations to come. 
• The new logo holds a cross at the center framed by a crown of thorns. This points to Christ’s kingship and to our calling to form students who live as His ambassadors.

The name of the school and the logo are changing, but we will still have the motto that we have always had, “Soli Deo Gloria,” which means “Glory to God Alone.”

As we tell our students often, it’s good to do hard things. Changing the name of a school does take hard work, but it’s an endeavor that will be worth it for the long-term success and future of the school as we raise ambassadors for Christ.

Changes related to the new name will begin in January 2027, and ECCS will officially become King’s Hill as of the 2027-2028 school year.
